Among these files, look for the AutoRecovery save of the Word document you are trying to recover. Look for files that have the phrase AutoRecovery save of at the beginning of their names. Navigate to Documents > Microsoft User Data. Click on Home in the Go menu on the Finder. There’s a lot of stuff you can tweak and customize with this version of Microsoft Word, so while you’re looking at your Preferences, make sure it’s all configured as you desire too. Make sure Word for Mac isn’t already running.
